The 53A-427 Converter Card provides two channels of ARINC 561 to ARINC 429 conversion and two channels of ARINC 429 to ARINC 561 conversion.
The data input function (ARINC 561 to ARINC 429) is designed for use with the CDS 53A-420/53A-426 ARINC Receiver Cards, but may be used in any system where a conversion of this type is desired. The data output function (ARINC 429 to ARINC 561) is only compatible with the CDS 53A-421/53A-425 ARINC 429 Transmitter Cards.
The output data provided by the Converter Card conforms to the standards specified in ARINC 561 and ARINC 429.
Both ARINC 429 and ARINC 561 have the same data format: a 32-bit word consisting of an 8-bit label and 24 data bits including a parity bit. Thus, the 53A-427 Converter Card performs an electrical conversion from the three signal format (clock, NRZ Data and sync) of ARINC 561 to the self-clocking bipolar RZ format of ARINC 429, and vice versa. No programming commands are required from the system controller and no data is returned to the system controller.
BITE
Four LEDs provide Built-In-Test Equipment (“BITE”) for the Converter Card, one for each channel of conversion. The appropriate LED will be lit when a given channel is performing data conversion. R1 and R2 LEDs will be lit when the 53A-427 Converter Card is receiving ARINC 561 data and retransmitting ARINC 429 data on ARINC 561 to ARINC 429 Converter Channels 1 and 2 respectively. Likewise, T1 and T2 LEDs will be lit when the 53A-427 Converter Card is receiving ARINC 429 data and retransmitting ARINC 561 data on ARINC 429 to ARINC 561 Converter Channel 1 and 2 respectively.
A Power LED will be lit when the card is supplied with all required DC power (+5V ±15V).
