• 16 separately controllable 2-wire channels
• Uses relays designed to withstand inrush currents that can occur when switching a mixture of high and low voltage signals
• Maximum switching power of up to 2000VA ac or 150W dc
• Maximum inrush current of 35A ac or dc
The 53A-336 High Voltage Scanner Card provides 16 two-wire channels of high voltage analog signal distribution at a maximum switching rate of 40 channels per second. Up to ten cards (160 channels) can be plugged into a CDSbus™ chassis. Each Scanner Card can be operated independently, or logically connected with any other scanner card in the system.
The 53A-336 uses relays specifically designed to withstand the high inrush currents that can occur when switching a mixture of high and low voltage AC or DC signals. The capacitance of the wiring between the scanner input and the Unit Under Test (UUT) can easily cause instantaneous currents in excess of 10 Amperes when switching from a low voltage channel (less than 10 to 15V) to a high voltage channel (more than 100V). The resulting instantaneous power may damage the typical 10 Watt contacts found in reed relays. The 53A-336 uses relays with an in-rush current rating of 35A.
The output of each Card is routed both to the front edge connector and to the internal analog backplane. The backplane analog bus allows signals to be routed to and from other instruments (such as the 53A-522 DMM) without external wiring. In addition, 53A-336 Scanner Cards can be combined with other CDSbus scanner cards to form a combination high and low voltage switching system.
BITE
Twelve LEDs provide Built-In-Test Equipment (“BITE”) for the Scanner Card. A lit LED indicates that the associated channel is closed.
